Search your records in plain English
Plain-English search turns a sentence into filters. On any grid, press Ask in plain English beside the search box, type what you want, such as “Austin multifamily we haven’t touched in 6 months”, and press Enter. ProspectingView shows the filters it built as chips you can edit, explains what it searched for, and can also find records by meaning. Save the result as a list.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Plain-English search works on the Properties, Contacts, Companies and Deals grids.
- Search by meaning across notes, calls and email is included in the Enterprise plan. See plans and pricing.
- Open ProspectingView in the side menu and the grid you want to search.
- Press Ask in plain English at the right of the search box. The button shows Plain-English search is on, and the box says Ask in plain English….
- Type your request and press Enter. Examples:
- “warehouses in Dallas under $2M”
- “retail within a mile of a Starbucks in Plano”
- “Austin multifamily we haven’t touched in 6 months”
- “owners who mentioned a 1031 exchange”
- Read the line above the grid. It says what ProspectingView searched for and how many results it found.
- Adjust the chips in the search box: remove one, or change its value.
- Press the save button at the right of that line to save the result as a list.
What ProspectingView understands
Section titled “What ProspectingView understands”- Field values: property types, cities, states, prices, sizes, cap rates, statuses.
- Relative dates: “last quarter”, “in the past 6 months”, “haven’t touched in a year”.
- Nearby places: “within a mile of a Starbucks”.
- Meaning: a chip labelled Semantic finds records whose notes, calls and emails talk about a topic, such as “1031 exchange”, even without those exact words. Hover over it to see how many matched, and switch on Sort by relevance to put the closest matches first.
Search what was said on calls
Section titled “Search what was said on calls”To find a moment in a recorded call, open Library › Call Recordings and type in Search across call transcripts…. Results show the matching words from each call. Recordings are also on each contact’s activity history.
Turn plain-English search off
Section titled “Turn plain-English search off”Press the button again. The search box goes back to ordinary search and filters.
Troubleshooting

Section titled ““I may not have understood that fully””ProspectingView wasn’t sure about part of your sentence. Check the chips, or use the words you see as column names, such as “year built”.
“Couldn’t apply” followed by some words
Section titled ““Couldn’t apply” followed by some words”Those parts of the sentence don’t match anything ProspectingView can filter on. The rest of the search still ran.
“Too many searches — try again in a minute”
Section titled ““Too many searches — try again in a minute””You ran a lot of searches in a short time. Wait a minute and try again.
No results
Section titled “No results”The grid says No properties match your search (or contacts, companies, deals). Try a broader search, or clear it to see everything again.
